LVL Up - Return to Love. For fans of Neutral Milk Hotel, Built to Spill

I'd never heard of this band until I stumbled across this album yesterday. The guitarist uses the same / similar effect that NMH used and the opening song, Hidden Driver, could have come straight from In the Aeroplane Over the Sea. The album is solid and probably one of the best that I've heard in 2016. Give it a shot! Obviously, Seaward will....

I've already listened to it a few times. Hidden Driver is a SOTY candidate and the rest of the album is quite good. As you say, I am well in this group's target demographic.

LVL Up is great! If you like their new album I would also recommend checking out their previous album, Hoodwink'd. It's also very good, and extremely underrated (and under-reviewed).

Been listening to this album non-stop lately. It's gotten even better with repeated listens. It's such a good album.

I've been listening to it more lately too. Should be in the year end top 10. Really fun album. So many highly rated albums have been released in the past month or so, it's been hard to keep up with it all.

What else have you been listening to? I've been out of the loop this year, aside from few select favorites like Car Seat Headrest, the Hotelier, and Cymbals Eat Guitars.

I've been trying to catch up on some Sept/Oct releases like Cymbals Eat Guitars, Bon Iver, Nick Cave, Angel Olsen, Nick Cave, Danny Brown and Beach Slang. Outside of CEG, I've only given most of those one or two spins though.
My favorite albums on the year are Car Seat Headrest and Deakin. Also like the new Radiohead, Parquet Courts, Connections, Kevin Morby and Frightened Rabbit.
