I'm looking for a good mix of Louisiana themed music (swamp pop, New Orleans style jazz, songs about New Orleans/Louisiana) to just play around the house while cooking, or just riding around listening to the radio. Y'all's input is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Some Tab Benoit would be a good part of the mix.

City of New Orleans by Willie Nelson-Actually about a train, but has a good sound.

House of the Rising Sun.

I would think you'd need a good amount of Al Hirt and Pete Fountain.

Tony Joe White is the king of Swamp Rock.

Watch this. You'll thank me later.

You've gotta get some Fats Domino. He's got plenty of stuff based on your taste.

I would personally choose stuff that hasn't been played to death. That's where you can appreciate him. LINK

And if you're not up on Louis Jordan, you need to find out what he was putting down.

Louis Jordan was who everyone from Chuck Berry and Little Richard to BB King wanted to be.

I believe there are a few really good "Mardi Gras" mixes on Spotify which have a solid mix of Louisiana music from Hank Sr to Lil Boosie to The Meters to Zydeco, etc.

Louisiana is a such a musically diverse state, love it. I really think I got the best of both music worlds as as being close to the influences of music growing up near the blues of the MS Delta and the Jazz of New Orleans.

Cold Gritz - "Bayou Country"

I was born in Louisiana on the Bayou Manchac,
Papa was a trapper from Napoleonville.
Mama was a dark eyed Cajun woman,
If I'd listened to my mama I'd be there still.
Took my schoolin' down in Morgan City,
Used to go to dances in Abbeyville.
Fell in love with a lady from New Orleans,
Hadn't been for her I'd be there still.

Want my, Bayou Country,
Smell of magnolia's bring you to your knees.
Fais do do's and Cajun women,
Spanish moss hangin' from the big oak trees.

Traveled back and forth across this country,
Met a lot of people and I made a lot of friends.
Got the feelin' of the swamp land runnin' in my blood,
Goin back home but I don't know when.
California's boilin', detroits burnin',
Whole lot of trouble in Chicago town.
Nothin' very pretty bout New York City,
Mississippi take me back to higher ground.

Well I gotta get back to the Bayou Country,
Smell of magnolia's bring you to your knees.
Fais do do's and Cajun women,
Spanish moss hangin' from the big oak trees.

Want my, bayou country!
