[quote]Great list. Vince's album was the best of that year, though. ;)[/quote

I love Summertime 06, but you can't really compare it to To Pimp A Butterfly in scale, originality, quality, innovation, or replability. TPAB is a damn near perfect album.

summertime '06 was a wondeful album and most years would have been the best album of the year. but to pimp a butterfly is probably the best album of the 21st century

If you're into lesser known and more conscious hip hop, the Urban Poet playlist on Spotify is excellent.

Just realized that this is an old thread, and I already pimped the Urban Poet playlist on Page 1.

Busdriver. Hands down, the most technically advanced rapper I've ever heard. Listen to "Me Time" for proof.

Aesop is the GOAT, but I'd hardly call him "lesser known".

"Ego Death" actually includes Aesop, Danny Brown, and Busdriver. Dope fricking track.

Also check out Camu Tao (the dude in my avatar). He died before he could make a name for himself, but he was about to turn hip-hop on its head with "King of Hearts". He completed most of the album before he passed, so El-P produced it and put it out. And oh yeah, check out El-P and Run the Jewels, as well.

90`s old school stuff a lot of people weren`t aware of was The Dayton family.

F.B.I was their 2nd album and it has some really good songs. YouTube "What`s on my mind II"

The first album was titled "What`s on my Mind" there are some pretty good songs on it.

I can probably think of more, but it`s been awhile since I`ve gone through my old stuff. Plus, I`m sure this thread was for more current music.
