Tonight. Headliner is Deep Purple. Love me some Priest, but I am torn as to whether I should stay for Deep Purple. Without Jon Lord, I have a hard time justifying the cause. Saw Deep Purple several times back in the day, but I have reservation's they can even come close to who they ever were.

Would you stay or go?

I would stay and listen to the first 4-5 songs and see how the vocals sound. If it's not for you, then leave.

Yeah, I'd give 'em at least a song or three too see if they're worth staying.

Saw it two weeks ago. They open with space trucking then play about 3 new ones. The video stays focused on the keyboard players hands. They are legendary and talented but they shouldn't have played after Priest's high energy show.

Skipped DP entirely. After Priest, it's hard to just sit down and roll with it. My son was with me and he insisted. After that, why even bother he says. Understandable.

True story; couple years back when my kid was like 12, we went out for sushi. Hit this joint that is one of those awesome hole in the wall joints. Located in San Diego in an area called Hillcrest. Severely gay population, but killer sushi. Walked in, stood behind this crew, looks like anyone else. Seated right next to them. Dude in front if me had a hat on. Soon as he took it off, blue lightning bolt on his dome. Thought it looked familure, but when he spoke with that British accent, the light bulb turned in. Started a conversation and we talked for awhile. Finally told him he looked incredibly familiar and asked. Turns out it was Rob Halford. One of THE metal godfathers. Had a small conversation, but I kept it on the DL. I didn't want to out him in public, so kept it cool. Talked for awhile and had a nice meal.

So going to the show was more about my son knowing who that dude at sushi was. Man he got an earful! Ole man can still scream the paint off of a wall. Pretty good show, but after over a dozen Priest shows, it was okay.

There was a band that opened called the temperance movement. Pretty damn good. Got a black crowes vibe to them. So that was my big take away from the show. But a great time for my kid was well worth the effort. I take him to a lot of shows. System of a down in 2 weeks...
