Hmmmm.....Don't know a lot of his solo stuff, but he's one hell of an amazing guitarist. Sounds interesting.

First time I met him was in 2001, he was still with Manson and they were doing a show at the House of Blues in new orleans.

I was still young then, and out of all the people in that band he was the most respectful and courteous. Always have remembered how he conducted himself as opposed to his bandmates.

The poster from that show

He is one the best guitarists out there right now. He is so underutilized in Rob Zombie's band so I am glad he is out there with a solo band. I have seen & listened to his interviews with Eddie Trunk & he seems like one of the greatest guys to hang out with. His stories of being in Roth's band & Manson's band are hilarious.

I can get lost in the serious Youtube hole just watching John five interviews and him just going off playing anything you can imagine. It's fascinating

I was amazed the first time I saw his "bet you can't play this" column in Guitar World with some awesome banjo rolls and chicken picking. If you go watch his stuff on Youtube you wonder... what is this guy doing with Marilyn Manson and Rob Zombie? He's so underutilized and can play almost anything.

His music style isn't always easy to listen to. It's essentially sort of a fusion of shred and country style licks. It can wear on the ears quickly.

That being said, he is very technically gifted. I really wish I could make the show.

He's a really good guy and well-liked. He loves what he does and is always eager to share his vast knowledge and expertise with everyone he comes in contact with, pretty much all the time. Really incredible live, too. Not to mention the guitars he crafts. Like some have said, seriously underrated in so many aspects. Huge respect for the man.
