You haven't listened to it, have you?

Be honest.

it was a very ambitious album and so was paul's boutique. its not like there can only be 1 ambitious hip hop album ever. mbdtf is a great great hip hop album, im curious to see if it stands the test of time.

How that equates to him being the GOAT or in the top 3 of all time because of longevity is still confusing to me. When Jay was at his best...he wasnt viewed like he is now.

He's married to Beyonce, He "supposedly boyz with Obama" , He owned the Nets (335k worth ), he dines with bloomburg, and lives in NYC, so he does a good job at marketing himself to match his rapper persona lifestyle, some people equate this to GOAT. Instead of staying around wearing baggy pants and jersey's, he grew his style and rap style up along with his age, reason he's had such a long career. as much as i love master p, his latest albums where just a joke, P we know your not selling drugs and murdering people. Your son is on Nickoldean , you're rich as frick, always in LA, so it's not believable and i think that's alot of these older rappers demise, they try and act like they are 21 when they are old as hell.

I dont knock Jay. He's living the life. He's living GOAT status, doesnt make him a GOAT rapper.

its like....if Pac and BIg.....would Biggie have been part owner of the Nets instead and would Beyonce be with Pac right now?

I'm happy and admire Jay's success. But his business ventures and repeatedly saying/marketing himself as the best rapper alive/GOAT/top 3 at least doesnt make it so.

Kind of reminds me of the scene from Reservoir Dogs. Where Nice Guy Eddie (Chris Penn) notices that the guys have been beating up the cop. He then says, "If you beat this prick long enough he'll tell you who started the Got Damn Chicago Fire, but that doesnt make it fricking so! C'mon man think!"

he was considered the goat long before any of this ever took place.

by who?

I think Jay-Z a great rapper, but i really only thought he had singles until the black albumn and blueprint 3, that's the first albums i could listen to all the way through, and all his stuff since then has been good, he was just average rapper back in the day.

I remember at a family get together a few years ago*, a budweiser commercial comes on with Jay-Z in it, and the premise is that Bud is the king of beers and jay-z is the king of rap. My brother and I look at each other and nearly simultaneously ask the question: when the frick did Jay-Z become the king of rap?

*Or perhaps more like several

Jay has been widely considered the goat, right or wrong, since blueprint.

nobody had even heard of kanye when blueprint came out, so im not sure what the hell you're talking about. And anybody who says wayne is the greatest is a fool. Im not an eminem fan, but hes the only one you mentioned that might have an argument.

Kanye, Lil Wayne, and Eminen have all been constantly hotter than Jay-z, nobody really cares about Jay-z. Get it right.

I notice how you did respond to my post, typical troll hog. Yup kanye was considered the greatest ever before anyone even knew who he was, thats how great he is.

Again, anyone who believes wayne is the goat is a retard.

so b/c he wasn't famous before jay-z he can't be more popular now?? and regardless of what i think or you think Lil Wayne up till a few years ago was as big as it got. I don't think jay ever sold like he sold.

Jay Z did the soundtrack to American Gangster and is doing the one to The Great Gatsby. But you are right, no one cares about him.

how many people do you know have the american gangster soundtrack

Look i'm not trying to knock jayz i like him and he's up there as well known big time rappers, but he's not as big as kanye lil wayne or eminem as far as being famous, which is basically what this conversation has become. Cause if you're calling Jay-Z the GOAT we are just way off. all three of those other artist have bigger sales and bigger audiences.

You cant be this stupid, well maybe you are.

First off sales me nothing when talking about goat.

But if thats what you want.

Every jay-z has gone platinum and vol 2 went 5 times plat, vol 3 went 3 times plat, roc la familia went 2 times, blueprint went 2 times, blueprint 2 went 3 times, black album 3 times, kingdom come went 2 times, amerucan gangster went 2 times and blueprint 3 went 2 times.

Yup, doesnt sound like jayz sells any albums.
