Jason Isbell - great singer/songwriter. I've seen him live 3 times since he left The Drive By Truckers. Great live performer !

Great episode. 4 played four of his songs with Chris Thile, and played slide guitar on another song. I really wish his solo work showcased his guitar skills more than it does.

Yep, he turned out to be a good fit for the show. Some don't. The good ones usually shine when they allow something new to happen and interact with the cast.
You ever catch any of their simulcasts? They do several on YouTube where they do live chats with the viewers, when the venue allows. They're taken down within 24 hours or so. Some of very-best parts are often the pre-show and encore sections not heard on radio. Christmas they did carols, called out by the audience, under the direction everyone must sing or the show would end. About 30 minutes of quality improv.
