It's sort of electric. It's sort of acoustic. The acoustic sounds pretty good...better than I would've thought, but the electric sucks. If you had told me to guess the price, I would've guessed $750 - $1000. It's high, especially considering it seems to be more of an acoustic rig than an electric one, and acoustics are not Fender's strong-suit, historically.

You could get an actual acoustic guitar and an actual electric guitar for $2k combined, or much less, especially if you buy used. Used guitars are better anyway because they're already set up properly.

Seems a little gimmicky to me, TBH.

Update.

I purchased a Taylor 317e Grand Pacific today. It felt great in my hands and I love the tone. Not as much as I loved the tone of the D-18 but that's something to aspire to and I believe I got a great guitar to learn on that I can grow into for quite some time.
