I barely ever listen to rap/hip hop, I'm a rock and country fan, but if I had to pick my favorite mainstream rap artist, I would say Tupac for sure. The few songs I have heard by him are really good, he had awesome talent and it's a shame he died so young. The songs I've heard by him are the more positive songs he recorded like "Changes", and then his song "Staring Through My Rear-View", which samples "In the Air Tonight" by Phil Collins is an awesome rap song. The other songs I like by him is "Heaven for a G", and "California Love".

I dont see how this can even be debatable... I dont have an issue with rap, though I dont listen to it... every now and then I like a song I hear...

but I cant think of another genre that is rife with ignorant shite like this

youre right. tupac never made this, pete rock never made this, common never made this

youre right. hip hop has only been soulja boy and whenever english professors have said that hip hop has transformed the way society views rhyme, they were 100% bullshitting us

3 songs that have no relevance to what you are quoting from me? I never said that they dont have positive rap songs..

Thanks for the laugh... I'll remember that the next time I'm in a discussion with someone on rhymes...

Rap has BY FAR the dumbest most childish, elementary lyrics of any music genre with almost all rappers going out of their way to write lyrics that "rhyme" regardless of whether they make any sense whatsoever.

Forgot to add the lyrics of the 1st verse

[Verse 1:]I stand here naked as the day I was born
Face to the dawn and my faith in the song
Blood soaking the pages I painted em' on
And none of ya'll will take my place when I'm gone
I'm the pure raw uncut, who the frick want what
Here to show you sucker arse mutts what's the fricks what
Brother Ali vow solemnly not to die while the music is still inside of me
It's got to be allowed to breathe
Got to let it out enough at least to let the monster flee
I want more than what your offering me
Songs that make me feel like I'm already free
I'm a rebel in my own right
Ya'll don't want to write or think or speak a rhyme standing next to me
When the game need it I'm exactly what it need
Put the soul in the speech, let it go, let it be

you imply that hip hop has elementary rhymes and i reply with how hip hops lyrics are celebrated for their complexity and you just brush it off?

I never once said it was all ignorant... I said it is the one genre, that in my opinion, has the most ignorant lyrics...

Also, I never once mentioned rhyming until you did... And that was to "brush off" some notion that it is a scholarly topic... It's RYMING! We teach it to children via Dr. Seuss...

So, you continue to argue points that I've never once made...

So, again... I don't hate rap... It's not all ignorant... Glad you love it..

Maybe the title of this thread should be whether you support hip hop or not...I am older and as you can guess, I would not mind if I never heard rap, just not my thing. But I guess it is here to stay, however, I don't see how anyone could listen to it all the time...just seems mindless, just like when someone pulls up along side of you in their car, with the bass turned up...I am not impressed...

What exactly would "impress you" hearing next to you on the road?
