Hugh Laurie - guy plays piano!

Went to the Professor Longhair Fess Fest last night at Tipitina's in NO. Was a great night of music and proceeds went to help restore Fess' house in NO. The English actor, Hugh Laurie, was the emcee for the evening and also played piano and sang for a few tunes. Guy has some serious piano chops. He has released two albums of NO style blues and jazz. Here's a link to a video of him playing St. James Infirmary Blues (but, not from last night):

Hugh Laurie is brilliant. Multi-talented individual for sure. Here he is playing a very simple acoustic guitar and singing.

I had seen the PBS special that he filmed at the Tips location on Decatur fro a coup,e of years ago. But, I had wondered how much of it was possibly edited/spliced. After having heard him live last night, if they did edit it, it wasn't to make the guy sound better. he easily stands on his own merits. Plus, his admiration for Fess and Fess' music is obviously sincere.
