Those guys at MJT are going to do that guitar body out of lightweight alder( unfinished) for 250 bucks. I told them hell yeah.
Before they sobered up.

Nice! You will be quite pleased!

I want to mix turquoise paint in with a clear stain and then put a white pearl pick guard on.
That price is about 1/2 of what I really expected.
This will be a slick guitar, nice flamey strat neck, telly pick up at the bridge, then smooth strat all the way up to the neck... damn, I have to work hard now..

So, what are you gonna do with that Nashville Telecaster?
Asking for a friend.

What kind of neck are you looking at?

The one that I'm building, or the swamp ash one?
Tell you right now, I'm probably going to get rid of that swamp ash one. I'm about to sell several, I think.
The one that I'm building, is going to replace several of them.
You want me to give you a heads up, when I decide to get rid of it? Warning you man, that thing is heavy. Hope you are a big ol' boy.

It's going to be a strat neck, I have one that is really nice, beautiful wood, flame maple, maple fretboard, it's just plain, no logos or anything,21 frets.
Later on, I might order one from Fender, with a serial number on it. I don't know though..

You cannot order a neck from Fender with a SN nor a headstock logo, fyi.
Google "Stratosphere Parts" -- they part out NOS Fender guitars and sell the pieces. That's your best bet for an actual logo'ed neck in brand new condition. They're great to do business with.

How are those $109 fender lic allpart necks?

I think they’re ok. I prefer Musikraft.
Even more than fender.

Look for the MIJ heel-stickered Allparts necks. Ghost built by Fujigen. Stellar quality trunks, fingerboards and factory fretwork. I prefer the unfinished ones and applying a hand-rubbed Danish oil to them. The finished ones are poly and can get sticky feeling in humid conditions.

Yes, you can. On their website.

Just checked, wow, they must be the only company that is that unprotective of their IP to allow SN'ed major parts out of their camp loose. Talk about making forgery and fraud easy for those inclined.
Most guitar companies do not release a logo'ed neck unless you return a defective logo'ed neck ... and that's IF they will even release one.

I think they just quit fighting it and decided to take that revenue that Mighty Mite and Allparts were getting. They have learned that fighting against forgeries for them is a losing battle. You can get necks and slides out there from a multitude of places and have a Fender neck that is pretty darn close to what the factory puts out.
Fenders are like the 60s/70s Chevelles. Even folks who are real basics can put one together because of the amount of parts that are out there and how simple the make up is. I am not the handiest guy in the world and I built my own parts Pbass and it is wonderful.

Yeah man, I was kind of thinking the same way, when I saw that I could buy one, but, Fender has the registry website, that will tell you, what any guitar that came from their factory is, based on The serial number. They even have archive people, that you can call at Fender. It's free for anybody to use. Anybody spending a lot of money on a high end Fender guitar these days, probably knows that. Or should.
I'm sure, that a serial numbered neck that comes from them, will reflect that it was a parts neck, sold as a single part.
So if you take what I'm putting together, for example, it's already something that Fender U.S.A. doesn't even build anyway. A quick check of that serial number, would tell you exactly what it is. A pretty nice parts caster, with a Fender neck. That's fine with me, I wish I could just buy exactly what I want, straight from them, I love Fender guitars, but since I can't, I can put together a unique head scratcher. In other words, selling the serial numbered necks, probably makes selling a fake James Burton telly, even harder. That serial number will tell the tale. It's something that has been done in the classic car community for years. If the numbers don't Match, it aint worth the cash.
You can buy all of the parts to build your own Boss 429 or Cobrajet Mustang, You can buy a new engine from Ford to go in it, however, that engine number stamped on the block aint gonna match what it is supposed to be. You can make it just like the original, but all of the serial numbers will tell anybody, that it's not an original. It's a clone, and it's only going to bring a clone price.

Talking about all of this parts caster building, me and a couple friends who build a lot of parts casters, have talked about starting to build a few quality ones, with our own trademark, borrowed from a music legend ( not a real person), that happens to reside in our neighborhood. Just tossing the idea around a bit right now. All 3 of us love messing with these things, who knows what might happen?
