I Either at an early show (I think they played during the War album) and also Pop in like 1998.

I saw them for the Pop tour in the 1/5th full Superdome (3rd Eye Blind opened) and then again at the Saints/Falcons opener (if you count that).

Anybody else go to Pop or the early concert or otherwise see them play some other time in NOLA that I'm unaware of?

I saw them circa 1987 at the Centreplex in Baton Rouge....or was it at the LSU Assemble Center? I don't remember. But it was a great show. Love U2.

Saw them in 1982 on The Riverboat President. That was a great show. Saw them again sometime in the mid 90's in the Superdome.

Wow I had no idea that U2 played in Baton Rouge.

Here is their set list and info from that show. Do you remember details like was it sold out, etc?

This was the concert that my brother in law's older brother went to. He actually owned a bootleg CD of it in the early 2000s and I made a cassette tape copy of it.

So they have really only played 3 full concerts in Southern Louisiana from what I can gather:

1982 - New Orleans (Riverfront) - October tour
1987 - Baton Rouge (Assembly Center) - Joshua Tree Tour
1997 - New Orleans (Superdome) - Popmart Tour

extra

2002 - New Orleans (Superdome) - Best Super Bowl Halftime Ever
2006 - New Orleans (Superdome) - Pregame with Green Day

Saw them in Baton Rouge at LSU assembly center in 1987. It was Thanksgiving night.

hell yeah it was sold out. To get tickets you actually camped out when they went on sale. They sold out in 15-20 minutes.

The BoDeans opened. Bullet the Blue Sky is the song I remember most b/c he was taking the light and flashing the audience with it. It seemed like they played for a long time.

I didn't know anyone has been to a U2 show since 2000, but then again they are "the biggest band in the world"

I saw them in 2001 Elevation Tour. Come to think of it, it's been the last large arena show I've been too.

Yes, sold out quick. I remember paying $50 dollars for a ticket and that was huge back then....the only other band that charged $50 were the Rolling Stones. But it was a great show. They hit the stage right on time and played all the way through.

The "setlist" is interesting...I remember the 1st song, Streets have no name" cause they played extended the intro part of that song to last about 5 minutes and when they finally came out, it was incredible.

Saw the Joshua Tree tour in Houston at the Summitt...still one of the best shows I've ever seen

04/07/1987 The Summit - Houston, Texas, USA
Where The Streets Have No Name, I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For / Exodus (snippet), Gloria, I Will Follow, Bullet The Blue Sky, Running To Stand Still, A Sort Of Homecoming, Sunday Bloody Sunday, Exit, In God's Country, Bad, October, With Or Without You / Love Will Tear Us Apart (snippet), New Year's Day, Pride (In The Name Of Love)
encores: MLK, The Unforgettable Fire, People Get Ready, 40, Trip Through Your Wires, Southern Man

comment: Until 17 May 2005, this was the only show during which 40 was played in full and did not close. It was meant to conclude the show, but the applause and chant of "how long" were so enthusiastic that U2 returned for an impromptu second encore even though the post-show Clannad music was playing, the house lights were up, and some of the audience were already departing the venue. Although this performance of Trip Through Your Wires was its tour debut, it had already been played twice, with the first performance occurring over a year ago in January 1986!

This....at the time, I had one U2 record. It was "Gloria", a 45 that had a little hole in like an album.

Came from England.

I can only claim the Superdome Pregame w/ Green Day. I have the recording of "The Saints are Comin" played that night live.

Well, they have had two of the best attended concert tours of all time during that time period (including the #1 by a mile), with the Elevation tour not that far behind.
