Happy Birthday Stevie Ray Vaughan... would've been 64 years young today.

Here's a reminder that his warm up/soundchecks are better than your playing will ever be
Like I needed a reminder of that.

Stevie was the frickin man, man. I first heard him on the radio when I was living in Houston. I kept hearing this song get played but the DJ never said who it was. I later found out the song was Cold Shot, which remains one of my SRV favorites. Finally one day they played it and the DJ announced who the song was by. I drove directly to the record store and bought Couldn't Stand the Weather. Been a huge fan of his ever since. I was devastated when I found out that he'd been killed in the heli crash at Alpine Valley.
Since then, I've had the pleasure of turning several people on to his music. It brings me much joy when I see the look that comes over someone's face when they hear him play for the first time.
