Guitar repair/modification work

Anybody do their own modifications on their guitars? Got a new pickup for my bass and was wondering how hard it is to install or should I just get someone to do it? Also if I get someone, about how much will they charge? Finding a place won't be hard, I love outside of Nashville, just curious as to the boards thoughts.

Soldering is involved in pup replacement. You know that already.
You live near Nashville? I'd take advantage of that. There must be tons of luthiers in that area.

For the Nashville area, I'd recommend reaching out to my very good friend "Murkat" Jay at NTL Guitars. Jay is a former Gibson Custom Shop employee who opened his own small repair/mod shop in recent years. Tell him Jeff at The Fret Shack in Baton Rouge sent you and he'll treat you like family.
