British band The 1975 released a new album today, which I've read begins with a track built around audio of an address from pint-sized environmental activist Greta Thunberg. That's a bit of a turn-off for me, though admittedly I find the band unlistenable as is. But as woke plays go, this sets the bar rather high.

I've like a lot of their older stuff, but it doesn't sound like this album is quite as great from a few reviews I've read. Below is The Ringer's take on it.

That definitely is going to be a tough bar to beat when it comes to wokeness.

It's a bold stand against climate change, but I can't help but wonder how The 1975 will tour to promote the new record if they adhere to Greta's advice and stop using fossil fuels, cold turkey. They have many dates scheduled in the mainland U.S.. Will the band swim here from England?

Didn't care for the 1975 before. Just another reason to change the channel.
