I just ordered his first solo effort on vinyl, arriving tomorrow. I listened through it on spotify once and my thoughts are that its got more range than past efforts. It is also easy to tell Dan A. from Black Keys produced it. Some songs you can just pick it out its so obvious. Overall I liked it bc every song sounds different.

Thoughts on Marcus in general and his solo vs band records?

1) He's going to be around a long-long time.

SOB, I’m over here excited about a new Marcus King album and you’re talking about el dorado.

But yes, it is a great album and lord willing he’ll be playing for a long time.

It's a good album, but I feel like it kind of handcuffed him.

Also a couple rip offs on the album. One a Bryan Adams song and the other a blatant ripoff of CDB's Trudy.I

That said, I own it, it's a good album.

don't know a lot about him other than he sounds like Warren Haynes. I think I read that Warren discovered him?
I enjoyed the band more than the solo album, but yea he's great.

Would highly recommend seeing him live. Saw him at Hogs and opening for Mule and was really impressed. Watching him and Warren go back and forth on Whipping Post was pretty incredible.
