I don't listen to the radio at all. I listen to music album by album, mostly in my car, and I get my recommendations from various sources, one being this board.

Although I actually don't remember who got me onto Fun. initially I remember listening to it and thinking the album was just absolutely mindblowing. At this point, I would rate it as the second best album I've heard this year, and the only reason it isn't the first is because I really really love Passion Pit.

Like "Foster The People", when I listened to this album, there was just no question in my mind that this bad was going to blow up. The songs were just so catchy, there was no way they weren't going to end up first on alt radio and then on mainstream radio.

I understand this. And I still like Foster The People (my fav album of 2011). And I'm still gonna like Fun. no matter how many singles they release.

But here is what I'm pondering. If I hadn't heard FTP or Fun. before they were really well known, would my opinion of their album change? Well the answer is that it wouldn't because -- ss I've discussed at length before with Baloo -- I rate music on a 100% subjective basis. If I like It; I know it immediately. If I don't like it; I similarly know it immediately.

But what about you? Did you hear the Fun. album before they blew up? And if you did, and you liked it, would you still rep them as one of your favorite bands, even thought they have now been swallowed by the mainstream pop machine? And if you've only recently listened to them, do you think you've given them a fair shake?

Discuss.

I didn't know them before they blew up and I do like them a bit. I own the Album and listen to it pretty often. I wouldn't say they're a favorite band, but I like them a good bit.

I posted about Fun. on here a while back after hearing their first album Aim and Ignite which I am a big fan of. I saw them at Bonnaroo this past summer and they were awesome live. Now to answer your question I think I would still like them even if I wouldn't have heard them before they got big. First thing I always tell people about Fun. is that their song that put em on the map, "we are young" isn't even their best stuff, but its what gets murdered through radio airtime.

I agree. It's a good song, but definitely not their best.
