For those interested: Preview of the new John Mayer album.

I was bashed by quite a few, frick you very much, for saying that I find the guy incredibly, incredibly talented.
This is definitely different from anything else he has done. Seems as if the guy has been listening to a lot of James Taylor and Dylan. Has a folk/blues/country combination going on. From what I've heard it sounds outstanding.
Here is a preview of his entire new album coming out May 22nd.

a mention is fine but a god damn thread about "Greatest artist of our generation" was just idiotic.

Counting Crows opened for John Mayer at the Woodlands Pavillion a few years back (How fricked up is that?) and the wife wanted to go see Mayer. I was more excited about the Crows, and we got free tickets, so we went.
Mayer was putting on a good show, until he started to do some Stevie Ray Vaughn.
Look you wet behind the ears hipster punk, you don't roll in to Texas and just crank out some almost Stevie Ray and expect the crowd to cheer. Even the Mayer Fans were fairly silent about it. He was still relatively unknown at the time, and really just needed to stick to his own stuff.

Go back and read the thread. I said "ONE of..." and to me his resume speaks for himself. I then stated that it was just my opinion. I'd say we probably have a lot of similar taste in music being that I have seen some of your posts on this board, and probably some you like but I don't. I wouldn't call you an idiot for it though, it's your opnion. I backed it up with why I feel this way. The fricking guy is talented, and you'd be stupid not to think so. To the guy above, SRVs guitar tech chose to be Mayers because of the guys skills. SRV is one of his idols, I see nothing wrong with him passing on the guys music so younger people will learn about legends. It keeps their music alive. If BB, Buddy, Clapton and so on think this guy is the real deal that is enough for me. I've seen many live acts, many, and very few come close to him.
