Haven't heard new Alan Jackson in forever. Voice still sounds perfect and that steel guitar is beautiful. I doubt this will be played on country radio but it's infinitely better than that bs they play today.

This board should have a sticky with a thread like this so we can stop pointing out that there are some absolute BADASSES still carrying the classic/outlaw country flag...

OP, go listen to Metamodern Sounds in Country Music by Sturgill Simpson.

Follow that up with Traveller by Chris Stapleton.

Next, go find Jamey Johnson. Sumbitch is new country that hasn’t cut an album in close to a decade.

Finally, go find anything Dave Cobb has produced in the past 5 or 6 years. Jason Isbell, Sturgill’s pre-Metamodern, Chris Stapleton’s Studio A Vol 1. Then go find some Cody Jinks.

We have established a beachhead and we are slowly advancing against the vile hordes of Bro Country bullshite that overran Nashville. Cobb, Sturgill and Stapleton are leading the charge to retake the industry.

ZBB gets a lot of hate, but they have like 20 songs that are really good. Instrumentally and vocally, plus they are great live. I see them associated with the Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Brantly Gilbert douchebags of the world and I don't understand it.

Check out Cody Jinks, Paul Cauthen, Ward Davis and Whitey Morgan. Good stuff. I'm obsessed with Jinks at the moment.
