Finally bought my dream amp

I've always been a huge gilmour fan and said I would one day own a Hiwatt. Finally found one and pulled the trigger on it. It's a 76 4 input DR504 all original except for the plug, which was switched to a 3 prong. Will post some pics in the next day or so. I'm curious what y'all's favorite amps are.

Well, I like
Mesa Triple Rectifier
Peavey 5150
Mesa Mark V
ENGL Powerball
ENGL Invader
Marshall JCM900 4100
This rig will probably always be in my "Studio go-to" for one of the panned guitars and layers. Mainly using SHURE SM57s to mic it up.
Usually ran through a 4x12 loaded with Celestion Vintage 30 speakers and with an Ibanez TS808 to boost. EMG 81/85 pickups and thick strings.

My Fender Super Deluxe is my go-to for guitars.
My Sonny Jr 4x10 has incredible balls for harping.

My desert island amp is my 1990 Mesa/Boogie Mark III SimulClass green strip long chassis head. It has been sent back to Mike B. in Petaluma for the R2 channel mod and master volume addition, and for a reverb circuit upgrade. Sits atop a Recto series closed back widebody vertical 2x12, loaded with Warehouse Guitar Speakers' clones of a 90 watt Celestion and a 150 watt ElectroVoice. I have yet to find an amp on the planet that sounds more like me, my needs and the scope of my tastes/genres than this amp.
My Roland Jazz Chorus 120, Ampeg 2x10 300-watter and the Genz Benz Shenandoah LT are pretty dreamy for what they do too. Here's a recent hurricane preparations shot when all the guitars normally parked in front of them were stowed away.

If I ever feel like dropping the money on it I eventually want a Matchless amp. Or a Komet.

Have come full circle, started playing in 1970 with a 1965 Fender deluxe reverb, 25 or 30 amps later I have a handmade clone of the same amp. Built in a monotone cabinet and chassis, mostly new old stock vintage parts, and tubes, with a Eminence Texas Heat speaker.

Not much sweeter than this rig for us low enders

I was part of the roadie crew for the band I used to play with, and that fricking Ampeg was so damn heavy. Sounded great though.

quote:Yeah, guitarists dont know how lucky they have it. Bass....if you wanna make some serious tone you've got to be able to move air. There really isn't any cheap way to go about doing that effectively. I play an Ampeg Portaflex rig. It's solid but not as warm as a good ole SVT 8x10 setup.

I'm with you on that. In my experience, Ampeg has always been quality. I used a SVT-2 Pro Head in the past.
