I don't participate in the circle jerks here often enough to qualify.

Yea, cause Earphunk doesn't have original music

Considering most of these cover bands come from New Orleans, can we say New Orleans loves cover bands too?

So your position is that Baton Rouge DOES prefer original music to a cover band???

A member of Earphunk told me that they are actually more popular in BR than NOLA. I believe it.

Less saturated music market to break into. In New Orleans the (ludicrously) have to compete with Flow Tribe and shite like that among their target audience.

My position is Earphunk isn't a cover band, even if they play an occasional cover show.

Will they be able to break their Daft Punk cover band stigma?

After all, their most popular show was the Daft Phunk set at Wakarusa 2013.

That remains to be seen, but they are far more talented and original than the wedding-type cover bands Rondo was alluding to.

I hope that they do...but I think it will be a pretty uphill battle.

The point remains...Baton Rouge is a wasteland for live music.

The city only supports cover bands.

its really not that bad. It could use improvement, but I lived in Memphis for 4 years and THAT is a wasteland for live music. Other than Memphis in May, there isn't jack shite that comes through that town.

No one in this thread is going to see the Chee Weez tonight at The Varsity.
Wonder which show will have a larger attendance though?
Doc, you have any idea how close the Earphunk show is to selling out. I have a good bit of friends coming up from NOLA without tickets yet.
