It has very little in common with techno....

I meant more in its audience and why people listen to it, but really i dont know much about the genre

The only difference between "techno" and drum and bass, jungle, (or dubstep according to your description) is that techno is all on the downbeats. Quarter note bass beats. The other stuff focusses a lot on the upbeat. But they have moments in the songs where they will lay down a straight up quarter note bass drum beat.

I don't know if I would say it has very little in common though. That just seems a little extreme to me.

Maybe that was a little extreme.

Dubstep just has an entirely different feel and mood to it imo. A mood that is much more comparable to Jungle and DnB
