I mean, I have all their albums and listen to them almost more than any other band besides Alterbridge.

But one of my personal favorites was Systematic Chaos. However, every time I talk to a DT fan or a progressive fan they say it's awful or look down upon it? I am just curious as to why that is. A lot of the songs are fun listens. A good bit of them are a bit poppy but in a good way.

Forsaken is a good example. Probably a top 10 DT song ever in my book.

As a lifelong fan, it's probably in my top five. I love it, every song. Constant Motion is one of my favorites. LaBrie's voice is solid, which is hard to say for every album. I don't understand the hate either, it's never mentioned as one of their best. But hell, I freaking love Train of Thought, and that's another one that is frowned upon by many.

Petrucci's absolutely ridiculous lyrics throughout the majority of the album sure don't help its case. SC is one of my least listened to DT albums. IMO it showcases the point in time when the band started to lose its magic which eventually led to Mike Portnoy leaving.

Very hit or miss for me.

Some of the lyrics are pretty bad - Constant Motion and Forsaken (although I love the music and vocals on both songs) and Dark Eternal Night. Doesn't mean the songs are bad.

Not a huge fan of Repentance (although it serves a slowdown purpose in the glass prison series), Prophets of War (one of their worst songs IMO), and Ministry of Lost Souls is meh (although has some good breakdowns)

Musicianship is incredible as usual and works well within the frames of the songs, even when the lyrics were bad.

In the Presence of Enemies Pt I and II combined is my 2nd favorite Dream Theater epic song - very incredible as individual songs and taken as a whole.

In summary, some very good songs, riffs, solos, and great live shows from this album put it somewhere in the lower middle of the discography for me. I still much prefer this to Falling Into Infinity.
