Does anyone remember the Sidewinders from late 80s/early 90s?

they had to change their name to the Sand Rubies in early 90s...

Ha. Go look in the other thread about '90s bands that never made it big. I listed the Sand Rubies as one of my biggest non-hit surprises. Their album was SOLID.

to be honest, after that first sand rubies record they fell off my radar...

I never heard that song before but before the guy started singing, I would have sworn it was a lost Go-Go's track. Once he did start singing, I realized that Belinda Carlisle would have sounded great on this song.
Makes you go Hmmmmmmmm.
