I don't think so.

Two kickass albums and then nothing" isn't better than two kickass albums and then the next eight. The latter eight aren't so bad that they ruin the first two.

I pretty much agree with Knox. Their first two albums are outstanding. The green album was a bit of a letdown and I feel they went through a weird period with not so great music, though I have enjoyed a few of the singles. Their last two albums are very good, surprisingly.

Weezer would be legendary had they recorded only that 1 album (but "Jamie" was included on it) and then they all somehow broke up/ died. The whole The Rentals "Friends with P" bullshite and the "Green album" ruined them long before.

Every single track on the Blue Album was just perfect. Perfect. Had they only recorded that, we would all be watching documentaries called "The Weez that never Was" etc. They could NOT follow that record up. What a rookie sensation.

Nah. Green and Maladroit are great. In addition to a lot of "non-album singles".

Their new album Pacific Daydream drops in a little over a month(Oct. 27th) but three of the songs have already been released.

Mexican Fender

Beach Boys

Feels like Summer

All three of those are great tracks.

IMHO this album and the White album have been the best since Pinkerton. Different but awesome. I am very much looking forward to the day it drops. Prolly gonna buy it and the white album on Vinyl. Both albums will be in heavy rotation for me.

Their first two albums are widely accepted as classics (though Pinkerton was given shite when it was released). You don't have to like them to accept this as fact. Both albums have gone platinum. So it's a valid question.

I’m glad they kept making music. Thank God for Girls was really strong single just weird time for rock when released. First 2 albums are absolute gems.

I don’t/wouldn’t sweat the neg posts by the hippie rock contingency, especially since I think that music is the most nonsensical uncatchy unmelodic need drugs to appreciate suppose to like it because it means I’m more enlightened as a music savant horseshite ever created.

Hallelujah, holy shite.

An older song of theirs came on Spotify the other day, and I forgot how brilliant their first two albums are. They really hold up over time.

What in the holy hell is this "Feels like summer" song? Ugh...

I don't think so.

They' haven't, and won't, put out anything even approaching the level of Blue, but that doesn't mean that they've put out poor offerings for years and years. In fact, they've basically been completely under the radar since the album with "Beverly Hills" on it, and have been steadily putting out music that nobody is listening to.

Well, except me, I suppose. And I think that every album they've put out since then -- despite being listened to by very few people -- has been at least solid, and with a sprinkling of very good tracks.

I think what Weezer is lacking at this point is any clear sort of organizational mission statement. But they are still putting out solid music, even if very few people are aware of it.

Agreed.

There are multiple tracks on that album that I have at some point become borderline obsessed with. The first time I listened to that album, I though the sweater song was maybe the greatest four minutes of music I'd ever heard. I looped it exclusively for literally a week. Over time, I've come to discovery that sweater song might not even crack my top 5 on the album. Only In Dreams is near the very top for me in the category of "songs I've listened to the most in my life", and I think it's clearly my favorite on the album. I've always doubted that hypnosis was an actual real thing, but if it exists, only in dreams has done it to me. I could go on and on. I can't say definitively that it's the finest album ever made, but in my humble opinion it's safely in the top 5.
