Did anyone else try that James Taylor tuning technique from the video?

I did that on my little parlor guitar this morning, and it sounds amazing.
I don't remember what thread it was in, maybe somebody else can relink it?

here

I've never used his numbers persay; however I use a Peterson Tuner which has something called .... sweetened tunings and the ACU setting is based on him. I like using it although it's probably more wishful thinking than something my ears would pick up without knowing.

How I did it, was using my Snark. Let the lowside(red line) barely flash on the bottom string, then progressively lean towards the low side, so that by the time I got to the top string, I had 1 full red line, and a second redline flashing 50/50.

This little parlor guitar already sounded pretty good, but that tuning, gave it a little more arse kicking ability. Really sweet.

here's the original link with numbers

With the Peterson's there's a cents value so it's real easy. They also have an app I use on my phone, it's pricey, but it seems even more discrete than a clip-on. Just guessing the processor on a phone has much more muscle than their cheaper line dedicated tuners. Best thing is it's most always somewhere close at hand.

My thought is, you don't need to copy it exactly, because every guitar is different anyway, and so are the strings that you might use. However, You can do a general pattern, going more relaxed towards your heavier strings. Just don't go too low near the top. Your ear will tell you.

I tried tuning that way. The tuner I gave has a cents scale but it’s a meter type.
I think I would need a tuner with a digital reading.
Tuned as best I could then sorta fined tuned by ear.
Played Handy Man, Fire and Rain and Sweet Baby James and to me they sounded just like James Taylor..
Just kidding, it’s gonna take me more than tuning like James Taylor to sound like James Taylor.
Maybe I can convince my wife I need an Olson!

Definitely "sweetened" up when using a capo.

I never use a capo, but this parlor is a short neck, it helped on it. Really sweet.
