I just found out that DeVotchKa is coming to Louisiana. They are making a holiday your stop Acadiana Center for the Arts on November 29. I hope this show doesn't get canceled.

Never heard of them. Looked them up. Not impressed. That's some straight up TERRIBLE music.

“ Never heard of them, played a song on Spotify then deemed them terrible - in all caps mind you to prove an awful point”

Hopefully it gets support and should be an interesting holiday performance

Don’t know anything about his holiday treatments, but his work on Little Miss Sunshine is one of my favorite movie scores.

Oh wow. I had completely forgotten about them.

I was a big Jonathan Safran Foer fan, and was first made aware of Devotchka when I watched the trailer for Everything is Illuminated, way back in the day, and they used How it Ends in the trailer. I tracked down the cd at tower records, and listened to the hell out of it.

Oh, and the movie linked above is also pretty good, not as good as the Safran Foer novel it’s based on, as is usually the case, but solid. It also stars Eugene Hutz, lead from the sort of gypsy-punk band Gogol Bordello that were fairly popular back around that time. Anyway, he’s hilarious in the movie, and sort of steals the show.

So, thanks for this thread, because I had completely forgotten about them over the years, and I’ll be looking forward to the nostalgia trip back to the mid 2000’s later this evening when I crank How it Ends.

I love Everything Is Illuminated, both the book and the movie. They also did a lot of the soundtrack for Little Miss Sunshine.
