I would sooner pierce my eardrums with ice picks than attend this show, but it does raise an interesting question: why is it taking place in Laffy instead of BR? A much bigger city and closer to another much bigger city in NO.

I have a theory but it might get me banned, so I'll save it for the OT.

Ossie Brown's reign of terror in the 1980s is still having an impact, I believe.

I also think that Baton Rouge being the only city of its size not to pass an "equality" resolution/ordinance may also have something to do with it.

Basically, BR is too Jesus-y for a lot of popular musicians.

This plus the Cajundome is newer and nicer. The River Center is a dump by comparison. I think its also likely that whoever runs the Cajundome is more active at trying to book big events than the River Center.

All of February postponed. I hope they can reschedule soon.

I heard postponed not cancelled, tickets already purchased will be honored at a later date.

Us "older" folks get this reference, as his reign of terror was happening when I was at LSU. Here's a smattering of what he did while the DA of EBR Parish, and I'm not even mentioning the corruption.

quote:

In 1973, Brown prevented Baton Rouge theaters from showing the NC-13-rated film Last Tango in Paris with Marlon Brando. In 1979, Brown blocked the showing of the comedy, Monty Python’s Life of Brian. Brown asked Baton Rouge magazine distributors not to offer the March 1977 issue of Hustler, which a state court judge in Ohio ruled obscene.[5]
