LOL there's a funny moment on that recording that just brought me back.
I yelled out "spinning song" to him and he laughs was like "uuuuh, I guess" and actually plays it. he never played that song acoustic before. It's all on the track

Man, thanks for the update and the show link. So glad "13 Cannot Be Divided" may finally see a proper release. I friggin love that song. When "Say Goodnight to the World" came out I asked him why he didn't include it. He said that it never really came together all the way. I've been having Dax withdrawals for 7 yrs now. He's my favorite artist hands down, and it's not even close. He's a big influence on my own music, not the lyrics, but def on some of the vocal styles. I used to be backstage with Acid Bath a bunch, was real tight with Sammy at the time, so I knew him a little back in the day.

Dax was a huge influence for me through college and I've seen the guy perform at least 15 times (was front row at his Voodoo Fest show).
My first born is coming in October and we decided a long time ago to name him Dax; it's such a unique name and if my kid gets just 1/8 of the talent Dax has he will be well set for music.

I've heard a few new tracks he's mixing and even him sing a few. It's very tribal sounding (very close to Grave Dirt on my Blue Suede Shoes, LINK) But classic Dax.
He's taking his time, holed up in Lafayette (he's a bit of a perfectionist) but all he would tell me is "soon" when I pressed him. Said he would start playing shows before the release comes out.
I know it's not much but it seems sooner than later.

I did read it and was just asking since last update was in September. I apologize but where I’m from, there’s not much of a good music scene and I’ve been waiting for Dax to come back :( this is the only site I’ve been able to find any current info on him now but I’ll try to be patient because I know whatever he’s working on will be worth the wait :)

I mean, 3 months in the music business is not a long time. I just assumed you hadn't read the thread because of your question. But like Musick said, he's taking his time with this one. From his updates, I would be surprised if we don't get some new material in 2019 or 2020.

That's really awesome! Welcome! This is a great eclectic music forum IMO. Lots of folks from different backgrounds in their taste in music so you get a little bit of everything here.

Ok guys, well after a conversation here's the update:
His son (he only has one) Sy just graduated and he's spending more time with him right now hanging out, getting him on track, etc
He is continuing to record the new album. He has about 17+ (!!!) songs fleshed out, and a lot of it already recorded. He set up a home studio.
Speculation it quite possibly could be a double album, he's leaning towards that if he keeps nailing these songs.
No release date set but "soon" (it's always been "soon" he won't budge)
But after that info, it feels like it could be 2020 IMO.
That's all I got peeps.
