For those of you who enjoy cover bands, what are some traits or characteristics that keep you coming back to shows?

and i guess variety. Since you can hear songs by several different artists during one show.

There is a Beatles cover band in North Texas that talks in fake English accents. It is a decent band but that part really is comical. 4 guys from Texas trying to speak with a Liverpool accent just doesn't work. On the other hand, there is A Hard Night's Day that just plays the music. Shorts, t-shirts, whatever the weather dictates is how they dress. Sometimes there are 5 players, sometimes 4. But they recreate the Cavern Club atmosphere as I imagine it with their music.

Vocal harmonies is something I really enjoy. The best cover bands have multiple singers that can carry a song or two, giving the front man ample time to rest to make it through a 3 hour set. Then, when those singers collaborate on songs where harmonies are desired, it makes the band so much better.
I also appreciate it when cover bands pull from a different group of songs than most of the others in the area. Around BR, most cover bands play a lot of the same stuff: Journey, Van Morrison, Pour some Sugar on Me, maybe a little disco, and a couple pop songs from the 2000’s for the younger crowd. When I catch a cover band playing different stuff or even just less popular songs by the same artists, it can be really fun. I also appreciate it sometimes when cover bands will put a little bit of their own spin on a popular song that’s been done to death.

I was disappointed I missed the Atomic Punks when they played the Varsity last month. I had some other obligation that night and couldn’t go.
