We don't do this very often on the music board, so I'm not sure if y'all will like it, but I saw The Lumineers last night in NYC, and I just wanted to share a bit of it.

The place was sold out. I got there and was able to get pretty decently close on the left side. The band is really three people (Wesley on guitar, Jeremiah on drums, and Neyla on cello. They've blown up so quickly to playing these bigger venus that they had to add a few more people for their tour to be able to fill up the sound at their shows. It was still fairly quiet for the number of instruments they had. They played all the songs from their cd and a few covers. Here's the setlist:
Submarines
I Ain’t Nobody’s Problem
Classy Girls
Flowers in Your Hair
Ho Hey (unplugged)
Subterranean Homesick Blues (Bob Dylan cover)
Charlie Boy
Slow It Down
New Song (untitled)
Dead Sea
Stubborn Love
Ho Hey
Flapper Girl

Encore
Morning Song
Big Parade
A cover I couldn't tell who of

Their dylan cover was damn good.

Overall, it was a really good (but short) show. They got the audience involved on both versions of Ho Hey. The crowd was really into the whole show.

The drummer was annoying. He wore a belt and suspenders, so I think that got to me the most.

For Stubborn Love and the second Ho Hey, they brought out some second graders from a school in the Bronx. Place went wild for that.

anyway, if they come near you, i'd highly recommend if you are a fan of the mumford, avett type bands.

Terminal 5 has to be one of the worst venues in all of nyc. I hate that place and all its levels and shitty sound.

it's the only one i've been to in NYC (saw the Alabama Shakes there last year)...so I can't compare it to anything here. but I do like the HOB in NOLA much better, that's for sure. the sound was fine, but a band like the Lumineers can't quite fill it up loud enough. the crowd got louder than the instruments at times.
