But wait, can you provide me a link that confirms Jay Z's "street life"? And songs don't count.

$1000 says KevinGates goes to the community college near UF, not the actual university.

Are you not one of those people who didn't turn 18 until September?

Personal testimonies and testimonies of those who raised him like his mom

But yeah, I'm sure that random has more authority on the topic and Jay and those who knew him.

I fail to see in that article where it says Jay Z didn't have a tough upbringing. I do see where he called him a "white boy on the inside" but how is that relevant to his upbringing?

I may be getting my rappers mixed up but I think Jay was the one who shot himself or a sibling or something like that when he was young.

He shot his brother.

If anything, Lil Wayne is a fake gangster. That dude was in a recording studio from age 13 and on.Then he bailed on New Orleans at the first chance he got. He doesn't know one thing about thug life.

reading this thread last night had me in stitches.
lil wayne is a flash in the pan. any rap or hip-hop list without eric b and rakim, nas, notorious b.i.g., tupac, beastie boys, ll cool j, or outkast is a stupid fricking hip-hop/rap list.

now more recently, only a few hip-hoppers and rappers have delivered true classics.

kanye's late registration and mbdtf are def. in the conversation. clipse's hell hath no fury is another frontrunner. kendrick's good kid, maad city is excellent. jay z's american gangster and the blueprint are his last great albums and he's done, esp. after this year's lackluster bullshite marketing scheme. outkast's stankonia is still a classic and better than most of what comes out. and we didn't even grace the subject of WU TANG MOTHER frickING CLAN.

gza's liquid swords, enter the 36 chambers, 8 diagrams, ghostface's classic recent run

HELLO?

stop listening to pop bullshite rap a-hole.

Did you also miss the part where it said that 90% of Jay's persona was made up and stolen from others?
