In the Tenacious D movie, Ben Stiller's character recounts seeing a "really mediocre band" that has a guitarist that's just shredding way above his level because of the Devil-tooth guitar pick.
So, with the difference being that this guitarist isn't playing above his level - he was just a gift from god, I present to you

That's nothing like a Pick of Destiny moment. Shawn Lane was known as a fabulous guitarist before that.

Well, yeah, thus the disclaimer that the guitarist actually was that talented.
The contrast between a forgotten/never-was local band like Target playing alongside one of the 3 most talented guitarists in history (IMO) makes Shawn melting that Gibson stand out even more. It's a striking contrast.
