Been jammin them lately and he really is not technically sound at all. Every note is the same low tuned slap sound.

It's kind if part of their signature sound.
Without Fieldy's trash bass you don't have Korn

I think Munky and Head are the major signatures of Korn's sound. Fieldy's bass is part of that sound but you could tell a big difference when Head left the band years ago.

does anyone still listen to Korn?
This thread makes me happy.
And yes he can play bass lol. He's not in the conversation of all time greats but he's competent fits the band.
I love a band that starts together and stays together.

Agreed on not only being part of their signature sound but a sound within itself you didn't hear every day, almost like a tuned, distorted percussion instrument. Their guitarists also really showcased what an Ibanez 7-string could bring to the table in a similar way. Nothing but respect for that band.

Fieldy's style is much more percussionist than bassist. I think he gets away with it because the guitarists are playing 7 string guitars downtuned.
Listen to this isolated track from Freak on a Leash. Besides the three note bass line over the verse, everything he's playing is pure "slap" rhythm with that signature buzzy sound of his. The chorus is literally one note.
I liken it to a mandolin player playing chop rhythm.

I realize Korn isn't everyone's favorite band.
But even in that isolates track when he starts slapping notes i get a giant grin on my face.
I can't explain why I love that stupid band so much. But I do.

I've always given Fieldy credit for originality, though that doesn't mean he's good.

I've been a Korn fan since '97.
