I consider myself a huge and loyal Iron Maiden fan. Never have given much attention to any solo stuff from Dickinson or Harris. I just figured it could never match the power and musicianship of Maiden. I have recently been listening to Dickinson and am impressed. Much better than I would have thought.

Yes, he’s had some good solo stuff. If you haven’t already heard of them, he put out a couple of killer, though ‘rough’ albums with Samson, the band he was in before Iron Maiden. Shock Tactics is my favorite; it’s awesome and his vocals are amazing throughout :

I’m going to check that out too. I know all the history, and that he joined Maiden after leaving Samson, just never really gave it a chance.

Chemical Wedding is the best one and Accident at birth is very good as well. I think both of these were done when Blaze Bailey replaced him in IM. Bruce's stuff is very maidenesque while Harris' stuff is ...ugh.... not so good IMHO.

I have a Best of Bruce Dickinson two disc collection that has some good stuff on it like "I'm In A Band With An Italian Drummer."

Good call. The whole first disc is great. Laughing in the Hiding Bush and Accident of Birth would be my choices.
