I just recently got into him and listened to his whole discography. Seeing his close friends turn on him because of Trump brought attention to me because you would think friends wouldn't turn on you so fast. So I decided to get his entire discography after trying out College Dropout and loving it.
College Dropout and Late Registration are classics for sure.
But..
808s and Heartbreak is just a masterpiece. I'm biased bc I love Kid Cudis overall sound and you can feel his fingerprints all over this album. It's such a departure and I have to think in 2008 it must have blown people away
It obviously inspired entire genre's even existing still today and IMO it's a huge watershed moment in music history.
You can feel his pain all through the album. Music that makes you feel the emotion pulsing through it are usually my favorite albums and this one is one of the most emotional albums I've ever heard.
I've been a "Dr Dre is by far the best hip hop producer" for ever now, and I've always just somehow missed actually listening to Kayne bc mostly his antics.
But I have to say he gives Dr Dre a run for his money and IMO when you compare outputs Kayne comes out on top.
What you got?

Late Registration is my favorite. Then MBDTF.

MBDTF....and it isn't close.

College Dropout
Graduation
Late Registration/MBDTF
808's
The rest aren't worth it unless you count Watch the Throne. Ye isn't offensive. Yeezus is a disaster.
If you got into Kanye after he praised Trump, we are on a very different track of fandom.

MBDTF but all of his early stuff is great. I don’t hate the all the newer stuff, but the quality is a lot more spotty.

I hate 808s, I've never been a fan.
Best Kanye album is MBDTF or maybe Watch the Throne if you can count it.
But everything up to, and including, MBDTF are great albums.
He's had some gems here and there but I've disliked his music, for the most part, the past 3 or so albums. Saw him at 'Roo in '14 and it was a mixed bag. The show started great but then he went off the rails about midway through and he lost most of the crowd. Very inventive musically and tremendous production on both his recorded work and his live shows. His personality just gets in the way of him being truly likable.
