I'll probably get it. I've always been a sucker for the sweet sounds of Benjy Davis. Just wanted to hear some feedback. Im assuming it's not on spotify but I may check

I'll probably sit around late at night with some friends after a good ole Cajun crawfish boil and listen to it.

It's not good IMO... It's more poppy than ever. I grew up with him and it's just different. It's like Charlie Mars trying to become more main stream and failed. I'll always support him bc I know him but not my cup of tea. It's like his intention was trying to make a track to be on a lugana beach soundtrack or something along the lines of that

He doesn't get it right till the last 5 tracks of the CD. I like those, can't stand the first 5.

Charlie Mars

Used to love to catch his shows in the early 2000's...

But I agree, don't like the new stuff, at least after the self-titled/Gather the Horses record, which was good but not like the old stuff...

I was really hoping it would be mostly him and his guitar, maybe some subtle other instruments, but the way the first 5 songs brought in so much stuff it became cluttered. My favorite thing about Benjy songs are that they are folky and sing along style stuff.

"Like This" has been added to my Mardi Gras playlist cause I think it does have a good Nola feel.

"Are You Awake" reminds me of some of his old stuff. "Bar Mirror" isn't the worst thing I've ever heard.

"We Were Seventeen" has a good feel to it for me.

"6" reminds me of something Guster would do and they are one of my favorites.
