Went to see this the other night and it was fantastic... Has anyone else seen it?

If not, expand your cultural horizons and head out to da parish.... they extended it 5 days from the date on the image

I'm a big James Booker fan and would love to see it. Unfortunately, I'm up in Memphis.

Here is the trailer

I was familiar with some of his music.. but not much about him and his story... what a tragic story.. but he lived a very interesting and colorful life!

While his original stuff was fantastic, I really love his covers. I think anything played in drunken piano especially with New Orleans flare is exponentially better.

I saw it at the Louisiana International Film Festival earlier this year. Thought it was a really good tribute to a talented musician who never got his due for one reason or another. Well worth seeing. It was worth it just for all the crazy stories about Booker -- like how he told everyone he lost his eye after Ringo Starr beat him up.

I really want to see this film. James Booker was the finest musician ever to come out of New Orleans. And you can make an argument that he's the greatest American pianist of all time.

One of my favorite Booker stories is the one that Dr. John told in his autobiography that Booker got out of going to jail on heroin charges when he told the judge that he's a homosexual and that imprisonment would only feed his sinful lifestyle.

Two of my favorite Booker performances are "Papa was a Rascal"

And "Slowly but Surely" featured in the trailer.
