Greatest black metal album of all time? Tt was certainly ahead of its time. The sound and atmosphere in this album is very dark and raw, a real treat for any metal fans. Highly recommended!

They were certainly originators of that sound but I'd say Darkthrone - Transylvanian Hunger or Burzum - Filosofem are better.

Those are great albums of course too. They give off that frigid sound that the Norway bands were known for. I think Black Mark sounds more chaotic and fiery.

Too many times burzum and mayhem are thrown out as cliche names to show how "true" you are to black metal, but filosofem is such a great album. heavy, catchy, shite production, and even atmospheric.
i dont know how much yall like the newer idioms of black metal/melodic/core/whatever... but old mans child - vermin is a great listen just as a metal album. its a shame galder ruined his name with dimmu.
