Baronnes Varsity - Anybody Else Go?

That show FAR exceeded my expectations.
I also have a crush on Gina Gleason now.
I have to admit, I was hesitant bc the new album is very meh to me. After last night, I have a new appreciation for that album. The studio does it no justice.
Great show, will go see again and again.

I went. Their last show was better. It also didn't have a bunch of bleeding vaginas for an opening act.

LOL. I missed the opening act.
TY for letting me know I made a GREAT choice.

I went and agree that their last show was better, partly because Pallbearer was a much better opening act and partly because I thought the vocals were drowned out by the music last night. I remember the sound being better last time. All that said, I still really enjoyed the show last night. I too was impressed with Gina Gleason.

Gina is fine. How long did that opener play? I dont want to see them, so prefer to time it when Baroness starts. 7 doors, 8 opener, 9 Baronesss?

Opener played 30-45 minutes. Baroness went on stage around 9:15 if I remember correctly.

Went to the show last night in Atlanta and thought it was great though definitely not as good as the last time I saw them as others have mentioned. It had a lot of to with the song choices tbh. First time seeing them with Gina and thought she did a great job.
Yeah wtf was that?! Been to a lot of shows in my life, and I’m fairly certain they were the worst opener I’ve ever seen. Not sure how you can have Torche and Pallbearer as openers and think that band would fit. Luckily I get to see Torche this week too.

They said Baton Rouge was their first show on the tour. Really sad we couldn't get one of the other openers. Pallbearer blew me away last time. Unfortunately Baroness brings a soy heavy crowd so they mostly seemed to like it.

I've now seen them live twice, and Baroness is much better live than recorded (not that their albums are bad by any means). They have a great energy that translates in a show. They were fantastic. The bassist looked down at the fretboard twice the entire show and was crushing it. Drummer is a beast. John and Gina speak for themselves.
The opener was quite possibly one of the most interesting bands I've EVER seen live, and that is meant with all negative connotations. The breakdowns where the singer spoke included gems such as:
"We need more members of the African American museums because this country was built on the backs of black people and white people need to check their privilege." (there may have been 1-2 black people in the entire crowd btw)
"As an aside, frick FASCISTS! And frick Nazis too"
"We need consent in the mosh pit"
Ending of one of their songs "I was raped"
These are paraphrased btw but I wish I would have written all of them down. They can spread their message and free speech whatever but it just came across as really forced and awkward. Drummer was in the crowd afterward. Lead guitarist was actually very good go figure.

I cant wait to skip that terrible opener

Jeez. I wonder why they would choose "that" band as an opener. That doesn't fit at all.

You nailed it. Thanks to you, I walked it at 9:08, and found a good spot without having to see that opener.
