Here is a link to "Deal" off the above CD...recorded at The Warfield Theater.
Deal
It is absolutely smokin'!!
Uncle Jerry lets it rip at about 3:35 in--and then proceeded to make magic for the next 6 minutes...

One of my favorite live albums ever. Wish they would press it to vinyl.

Thank you for getting this thread back to the first page. I haven't been to the record store in a while but I plan on going on Friday. Almost time to break out the Christmas albums. Starting with Charlie Brown Christmas this year.

I got a few new LPs, but since I finally received the entire 2015 Phish tour (77 CDs) and the 30 Trips Around The Sun Grateful Dead Box Set (80 CDs)---I have over 150 CDs to listen to over the next few months!!
I did pick up one of the greatest albums ever to be recorded--it was finally released on vinyl a few weeks ago for the first time--"Lyle Lovett and His Large Band"
This is, and always has been, one of my top 10, take to the grave records. The vinyl pressing, however, is a letdown. I was expecting nirvana, as Lyle Lovett's recordings are all 10/10 on the audiophile scale. It has a crapload of surface noise. I tried cleaning a couple times with no change.
Since I bought it at the high end audio store here in N.O., I will swap it out to see if it changes.
Regardless...do yourself a favor and pick up either the above mentioned CD, or Lyle Lovett's "Joshua Judges Ruth" CD. The JJR is only available on CD--it was never pressed on vinyl. They are both fantastic.

Which store is this. Not that my broke arse will be able to afford anything, but I do enjoy browsing.
Also, just wanted some insight into the dedication it takes to listsen to 77 discs of Phish. I'm not a huge fan, but I get the appeal. Do you try to find the best "take" for each song or pull out the oddballs? Also, are these pro recordings or bootlegs?

Think I'm about to get this. LINK Is this a good starter? Anything else I would need with it or is it fine as is?

Read this thread from the beginning--you will have your answer.

I really don't have the time to read 50 pages. Was hoping to get a direct answer
too much to ask for I guess

I ended up going with this
LINK
After reading tons of reviews I felt like this was a great starter. I am new with this though so some patience would be nice and to get some help would be greatly appreciated as this is my Christmas gift to my girlfriend so it would be nice to have the complete setup done for her. What else would yall suggest to go along with this? I have about 300$ to spare maybe a little more.

For my $300, I'd buy a vintage Marantz Receiver off Craigslist and a set of these from parts express. Parts Express B652-air bookshelf speakers

Read the thread after buying some vinyl with designs on buying a turn table--thinking right the Orbit Pro will be a good place to start. Only have a couple of records, but will probably raid my dad's collection this Christmas--no use in letting it sit in a box on the basement.
As far as CD players go--what are some key things to look for? Is it acceptable to use a bluray or DVD player to play CDs or would you recommend buying a separate unit? Might be able to get an old (maybe 10-12years) Denon single well CD player/burner. Would this be a better option?

Orbit Pro is legit.
Picked up Exile on Main Street today as well as a couple of Christmas albums.
