Marco, others please help.

Yesterday after years of searching for the right one at the right price, I found my console.

All it needed was a needle I ordered last night.

Less than 24 hours after purchase, my four year old ripped this shite apart.

How do I fix? Pretend I know Jack shite about record player wiring or soldering. It is a Magnavox.

It's a great piece, it would be a shame to throw it in a dumpster behind publix.

A pretty easy fix...but I don’t know your level of “I can fix it”

You help me get this going, the first record I play will be the recent Slip Stitch and Pass LP release. And I'll video it and find a way to post it for truth.

Tank & The Bangas- Green Balloon

Saw part of their set at Festival International this past year and enjoyed it, different from my usual rotation.

I think my dog is deaf now...

It’s a great album, dead quiet... kinda crazy some of the things you hear on these songs that you don’t normally hear. I’ve been listening to SRV in some way shape or form since I discovered him in the early 90s. Definitely the best I’ve heard through my set up. Although, the Vanessa Fernandez “Use Me” I picked up a while back is a close second. Again... this is on my rig though.

I have a couple Hypex modules sitting here waiting to be used somewhere...they were picked up at the Burning Amp festival.

You frequent Nelson Pass’ site?

no

i took analog circuit design class going through LSU and i read articles and study projects on elliott sound products

here's an edit to the design, the TIP41s can't seem to hold up too well for what i want to do so i switched to MJL21193/4 which are very good high power low distortion transistors

Need some help:

My dad gave me an old Pioneer SX-580 stereo receiver and a pair of old Fisher DS-151 speakers.

The speakers sounds perfectly fine with the radio switched on, but when I hooked up my record player it's super distorted. Any clue as to what the issue could be? I'm kind of bummed out because all day I was looking forward to hooking them up.

First step to receiving old audio equipment is to clean it. Your problem could be as simple as that. Buy some Deoxit, take the cover and bottom off and spray every moving part and move those parts in/out back and forth. Google it if you want more specifics.

That is a cheap and easy fix. If it doesn’t work, there’s likely some
Issue with the phono board. May need to be recapped.

Another thing you can do is borrow another record player and see if you get the same sound issues (after cleaning). Then you will know it is the receiver.

Is the phono cartridge a MM (moving magnet)? Is it plugged into the “phono” input?

Just ordered a can of Deoxit--I hope that'll take care of it. Thanks, SUB.

Marco, how do I tell if it's an MM? I do have it plugged correctly into the Phono input.

What is the make and model of the cart? If you don’t know, take a close up pic of the cart and post it—I’ll tell you.

PSA: Fluance RT-84 and RT-85 are available for purchase now from their website. I just ordered an RT-85 after their website had been crashed due to traffic.
