Anyone remember the Cold?

For folks around my age (46), there was a band in New Orleans called the Cold. I used to love going to their shows, mainly at Jimmy's on Willow Street, or as a younger guy, the CYO's around town would have them. A time or two, they were on the Riverboat President.
Anyone on the music board an old Cold junkie? Man, that was some great times going to see them as about a 16/17 year old slipping into Jimmy's.
Anyone used to dig them? Were they really good, or did we just think that since they were local. I've got their old album. Listening to it now, it sounds pretty rough. But back in the day, I'd given up a big toe or something for a whack at the lead singer, Barbara Menedez.

I'm old enough to have heard about them but not old enough to go to NO to see them (also too poor at the time)
I remember hearing this on KLSU:
"Three Chord City"
One of the members was Vance DeGeneres, brother of what's-her-face (and allegedly he was the co-creator of Mr. Bill)

I used to see them as well and they on are on my Ipod. Barbara still plays in New Orleans with a band called the Help and they play Cold songs at the shows.
Vance Degenerres (sp?), Ellen's brother was with Cowboy Mouth briefly when Sanchez left and we caught them up here and in addition to asking them to play China from the Red Rockers I was yelling for Cold songs too but they hadn't worked them in. Met Vance after the show and he was a really nice guy.

Man, I swear I saw him on CNN or some news show years ago. Guess he got out of the news gig.
I'm probably one of the few people that still thinks of Ellen has Vance's sister, and not Vance as Ellen's brother. Funny. That's how much I used to dig that band.
Back in the day, man, we thought were so cool, getting all preppied up, drinking gin and tonics, and dancing to some Cold tunes. 'Twas a blast.

They played a few gigs at the old movie theatre on Algier's Point, too. They just released a dvd of a gig they did at Jimmy's at the height of their popularity. Might have to spring for it just for nostalgia's sake.

here's he band's website with info about the dvd.
