I'm thinking about getting a Stingray but don't know much about them. I love the necks and the way they sound.
I have a Fender 55 reissue (single coil) that I use for my mundane stuff but I want to ramp it up into an active bass for my fun stuff.

I think I read somewhere that they have some of the worst resale value? Might have been here? The brand in general not just that bass.
Maybe you're a guitar hoarder and it will never matter?
Maybe it's the Invicta of bass guitar? * GASP *

That's not what I've seen. They run new about $2000 and resale between $1200-$1500 so that's right in the ballpark

EBMM USA stuff is stellar and very consistent piece to piece. They make great guitars.
Stingrays could be deemed heavy by guys who like more modern and ergo-friendly basses, but they sound and play phenomenal. That weight is part of the reason they sound like they do.
If you are worried about resale value when you buy a guitar or bass, you don't need to be buying a guitar or bass to begin with. It's a tool for artistic impression, not part of an investment portfolio. Particularly in the case of ANY guitar that not named Gibson, Martin or Fender.

Never owned one but I had a friend who had a stingray 5 string I played live a few times. It had an amazing overdrive growl to it.
He had it for a few years and sold it for about what he paid for it, iirc.
