Used to see him play at bars around town. He's good enough but he really isn't that talented. But they probably have the auto tune for his live shows now.

It's an experience. He goes the Pokey LaFarge route in trying to recreate a specific era in his music and performance. Very dynamic soul show.
Let's put it this way:
I saw him at Hangout. Met him. Bought tickets to the show in Tulsa that night for Monday because I love the show and wanted my wife to see him. Flew back from Hangout on Sunday night. Worked Monday, then drove to Tulsa that night with wife to see him. So yeah.. he's good.

Naw, he's good. I just don't think he is as good as the hype. But he has the look and a close enough approximation of Sam Cooke. Pokey on the other hand is really good.....but maybe somebody that saw him in bars in Missouri would saw he is just a contrivance.
