Robert Glasper is a fabulous jazz pianist and one of the most influential hip hop producers you might've never heard of working on some of this generations most influential hip hop/rap artists but his true love was always Jazz...but he got bored with the direction Jazz was going so he felt like giving his genre a well termed "big arse-slap" and the 1st record won him a Grammy

here's a quote on why the album was made:

I've gotten bored with jazz to the point where I wouldn't mind something bad happening. Slapping hurts, but at some point it'll wake you up. I feel like jazz needs a big-arse slap." On November 5, 2012, Black Radio Recovered: The Remix EP was released with five remixed tracks from the prior album.

It is comprised and performed by a trio band he comprised as a group called "The Robert Glasper Experiment" he formed in 09 for one of his solo albums and the rest as they say is history.

I did a thread on Jazzmatazz and not since then has a more soulful and eclectic meld of the genre been weaved together, the albums were mentioned in that thread and it made me go take another listen and really delve into it and you should too. I'll cover all 3 albums:

Gotta say I prefer the first album over the second. FTB is my all-time favorite Glasper track and the remake on Black Radio 1 is fantastic.

Also, Lalah Hathaway's voice is perfect.
