everyone likes to come in and get all upset about how much phish used to be. Its the hipster music starting to seep in I think.

If Trey started practicing with the band more often instead of running around playing cliche shitty dad rock with his shitty band they'd be just as good as they used to be

It's Trey's fault. shite it's always Trey's fault, about everything.

Phish 3.0's modus operandi is puzzling.

In Trey's guitar rig video he talks about the loop pedal he has, specifically refering to the infamous one in "Gotta Jiboo." He laughs about how he used to just loop that one sound for 15 minutes, then quickly remarks that they don't do that anymore. Comments like that make it seem like the band isn't interested in long, adventurous jams anymore. But then you have stuff like the 37 minute Tahoe Tweezer, with its five distinct sections and a hose peak reminiscent of the top 1.0 jams, and even more so the absurdly avant garde Superball Storage Jam which clocked in at an hour of pure improv.

I was gonna start a jam band bullshite thread today but I just couldn't motivate myself to think of anything creative

Like what's the point, man? My life is a dark meaningless abyss without constant bullshite MB threads.

pretty much

I think the desire to take jams to the next level is primarily related to a lack of practice, and a lack of desire to be that good anymore.

But I listen to 3.0 stuff and I keep realizing the band IS that good still, and could still do it. Mike dropping bombs everywhere, come on. He's as good as he's ever been right now.

But I hear Trey noodiling aimlessly and whale calling and flubbing and giving promising jams some late-term abortions and I understood the problem quickly. It's Trey. It's always Trey.

He really gets on a lot of people's nerves and sometimes just can't help himself. CP does the same thing but is better about knowing boundaries. I get pissed every time I find out Burt gets banned because it's just so much lost entertainment on here.

I think I like the idea of Burt more than I actually like Burt.

I still can't figure out if he actually likes phish or when he is and isn't just attempting to stir shite up, so I just assume he always is.

I really noticed at Jazz Fest that he seems content with taking a backseat these days. It is a far cry from his mid 90s mindset when he was the best guitarist in the world.

I watched the Jazz Fest set on AXS TV last weekend. I don't get why that show was getting such negative reviews on here. Other than a somewhat slow start and a horrible Hood the show was fine. DWD,Light, and Sand kicked arse.

Yeah and Page can still play out of his mind. If they are not interested in long jams anymore then they just aren't interested in being as good as they used to be. That's what they do and should work on perfecting that instead of moving away from it IMO

He likes Phish. I'd say he was just disappointed after the Jazz Fest show. The show was being hyped for months and didn't meet everyone's expectations.

Honestly for me it was the sound being so off for so long. But that's on Jazzfest.

overhyped for months. I thought it was good though, first set was kind of rough but second set was legit.

I'd say all that lolphishsux stuff was half him being disappointed in the JF show, and half just a new troll angle for him to play
