Two really funny things about that song that would have completely changed it and probably relegated it to a forgotten album cut.
1) The state was almost Massachusetts, as they needed a 4 syllable state, and Mass was Bill Danoff's home state.
2) The song was originally planned to be pitched to Johnny Cash.
