Albums that fail to live up to their initial promise

Sight - Heroica

The first three songs on this album are incredible. They fit the overarching theme of the Hero’s Journey perfectly and combine sections of beautiful and unexpected chord progressions with sections of arse-kicking power. But then, with the fourth track, the band devolves into pointless, endless meandering and noodling that rapidly becomes grating, before completely losing their minds about midway through. The fifth track returns to more mindless and interminable noodling, and for all I know the sixth and seventh tracks may be the greatest songs ever written because I finally lost interest and never listened to them. So much promise early in the album, but promise that, ultimately, was not lived up to.
