$2500 for a D-41?
Had to be used right?
I thought Martin was kind of like Rolex, in that if they know about discounts that big you won't be selling martins anymore?

I have a house full of guitars, and I go through phases about which one I play the most.Lately,it's been my Recording king 000. I bought it in a pawn shop for almost nothing, did some tweaking, and it has exceeded my expectations by a giant leap.

Actually brand new...
I did basically the exact same deal for a PRS custom 22 (think I paid $2550 cash when they wouldn't budge on the 2500 offer, IIRC).
Back then (circa 2004 or so) I feel like Guitar Center & places like that were printing money with the economy doing so well, so they could afford to be loose with the deals. It also helped that I was playing about 3 gigs a week at that point along with a day-job.
Nowadays, the sticker price is closer to $5K for a D-41 (instead of the $4200 it was back then) and the economy isn't near where it used to be, so the buyer's bargaining power is restricted.
